SERBIA. Stefan Vladislav II, usurper, 1322-1324. Gros (Silver, 21 mm, 1.91 g, 7 h). BΛAΔNCAΛAB ('Vladislav' in Serbian) Half-length bust of Stefan Vladislav II facing, wearing crown and holding cruciform scepter in his right hand. Rev. Christ, nimbate, seated facing on decorated throne and holding book of Gospels with both hands; in fields to left and right, IC - XC. Jovanovic, SMC, -. Jovanovic, Srpski Srednjovekovni Novac, -. Apparently unpublished and unique with this obverse legend. Somewhat rough and with light scratches, otherwise, very fine.

Stefan Vladislav II was the eldest son and heir to the throne of King Stefan II Dragutin, a position he lost at the age of two after the abdication of his father in 1282. When king Stefan Milutin died in 1321, Stefan Vladislav II claimed the throne for himself, but was eventually defeated and killed by his cousin Stefan Uroš III in 1324.
